Although the Friends lost over 3800 members when membership linked to the annual pass expired on 31st March 2009 we continue to flourish and grow as a volunteer orgaisation. We now have about 30 volunteer members and about half of those volunteer regularly and earn a free annual pass. We are always keen to welcome new volunteers and you should CONTACT US if you are interested.
We are keen to increase our membership to ensure that we better represent all the varied interests of the thousands who visit the forest every year.
The new 'Discovery Pass' was launched by the Forestry Commission in 2010, this replaces the former annual pass for the forest drive see  www.forestry.gov.uk/pass  for more details. Unlike the old pass which expired at the end of March every year the Discovery Pass is for 12 months from date of purchase.
